This time without Ramsey, Sissoko and Moretti. Pallacanestro Trieste dominates for long stretches in Tenerife, even leading by 16 points in the third period, in the last minutes of the last quarter they are caught and overtaken with Brown who almost at the siren, down by one, goes in but makes a mistake, complaining about a foul received. Many, many recriminations therefore for Gonzalez’s team who were now savoring the joy of the second blow in the Canaries.
Pallacanestro Trieste starts with Uthoff, Brown, Ruzzier, Toscano Anderson and Brown.
Balanced first serves, Ruzzier scores 7 but Tenerife is in front: 14-9. Trieste remains attacked with Candussi, Deangeli, Brown and a bomb from Ruzzier: 23-20 at the first break.
The second quarter is for the red and whites. The equalizer immediately and the first overtaking is by Ross: 23-25. At 30-27 Trieste goes wild, posting a 16-2 run with triples from Brooks, Toscano and two from Uthoff: 32-43. A Spanish basket and then Uthoff again from beyond the arc. Shortly after, Brooks also made a three: 36-51. Two free throws from Tenerife make it 38-51 at half-time. For Trieste the triples on target are 8 out of 16, Tenerife responds with 3/13.
In the first six and a half minutes of the third quarter for Trieste there are only three triples from Brown, then Toscano scores (49-65 but an unsportsmanlike celebration with a free throw scored by the opponents) and Iannuzzi, who has just entered. Ross from beyond the arc: 56-70. We go to the last interval at 60-70.
The first basket of the last quarter goes to the home team. He doesn’t score for a while. Brown breaks the ice at -7′. Fitipaldo and Brooks from beyond the arc: 65-75 at -5’10”. Shermadini and another bomb from Fitipaldo, then Toscano replies: 70-77 at -3’55”. Here Tenerife places the decisive break. Two free throws scored by Shermadini, Marcelinho steals and goes to deposit: 74-77 at -3’30”. The worst is yet to come, three triples in a row in just over a minute: 83-77 at -1’24”. Partial score therefore 13-0. Trieste, however, doesn’t give up, Ross immediately enters: 83-79. Uthoff hits a three: 83-82 at -47″. Tenerife fails to shoot in the 24″ available. The last attack is for the guests, Ross holds the ball and then serves it to Brown who enters vertically but misses the support, perhaps tackled foully. Rebound for Laguna and foul by Ross with less than a second left. Game over.
