Borussia Dortmund lost 0-2 (0-0) at home to Inter Milan on the last matchday of the preliminary round of the Champions League. This means that BVB misses out on direct entry into the round of 16 and is now in the play-offs – just like Inter Milan.
The first half of the game was largely uneventful for both teams. And the visitors’ lead also came late: Federico Dimarco scored for Inter in the 81st minute. In stoppage time, the Milanese went one better – Andy Diouf made it 2-0 shortly before the final whistle (90th + 4).
PSV Eindhoven – FC Bayern Munich 1:2 (0:0)
FC Bayern Munich won against PSV Eindhoven 2-1 (0-0). This meant that the Munich team were able to retain their second place in the Champions League and move straight into the round of 16.
The first half of the game was goalless, although there were repeated opportunities for both teams. In the 55th minute, Munich managed to take the lead with a goal from Jamal Musiala. However, PSV initially managed to equalize: In the 78th minute, Ismael Saibari hit the top left corner. Just a few minutes later, Harry Kane scored to make it 2-1 for Bayern (84′).
Bayer 04 Leverkusen – FC Villarreal 3:0 (2:0)
Bayer Leverkusen won 3-0 (0-0) at home against the guests from Villarreal, Spain. With the win, Bayer safely reached the knockout phase of the premier class.
The hosts were clearly superior in the first half. In the twelfth minute, Leverkusen took the lead through Malik Tillman. After another 13 minutes, Tillman extended the lead to 2-0. The Werkself hardly had to work defensively and the opponents seemed overwhelmed at times.
The hosts were also able to convince in the second half. In the 57th minute, Alejandro Grimaldo increased the score to 3-0 – the final score.
Eintracht Frankfurt – Tottenham Hotspur 0:2 (0:0)
For Eintracht Frankfurt, the defeat this Wednesday no longer has any influence on their performance in the game Champions League. The Frankfurt team had already been eliminated. The guests from London qualified directly for the round of 16 with a 2-0 (0-0) win.
In the first half the two teams played on equal terms. But shortly after the start of the second half (47th), ex-Frankfurt player Kolo Muani put Tottenham in the lead. In the 77th minute, Dominic Solanke scored to make it 2-0 for the guests.
