Tammy Abraham returns to the Premier League after four and a half years. The 28-year-old center forward is joining Aston Villa, where he has reportedly signed a contract until 2030. On Tuesday evening the transfer was reported as perfect. The eleven-time England international had already played 40 games (26 goals) for the Villans on loan from Chelsea in 2018/19.
Besiktas and Aston Villa agreed on a transfer fee of 21 million euros. Abraham initially came to the Süper Lig club last summer on loan for a fee of 2 million euros; the purchase obligation of 13 million euros that was also negotiated was now triggered early. Besiktas sells the attacker on at a profit. 21 million euros also represent the second most expensive departure in the history of the Istanbul club. Part of the agreement should also be a transfer of Yasin Özcan, who is currently on loan from Aston Villa to RSC Anderlecht. A confirmation is still pending.
Abraham is set to replace Donyell Malen at the Birmingham club, who recently moved to Roma. Coach Unai Emery is considered a great admirer of Abraham, who wants to recommend himself for a place in the World Cup squad back in his home country. He is the number three winter signing for the Villans – all for the offensive. The London native recorded 13 goals and three assists in 26 games for Besiktas this season.
Mateta also traded to Aston Villa – swap with Guessand?
Most recently, Jean-Philippe Mateta was also linked to Aston Villa by “The Athletic”. Despite the signing of Abraham, an arrival of the center forward from Crystal Palace still seems possible. There could be a swap between the clubs with Evann Guessand.

According to reports, the top scorer recently told Palace officials that he would like to leave the club by 2027 despite his contract. According to coach Oliver Glasner, the bosses were not aware of any such request and “we have not received any offer,” said Glasner at a press conference. Mateta came to Crystal Palace from Mainz 05 for 11 million euros four years ago and has since scored 56 goals in 186 games. The 28-year-old Frenchman increased his market value from 5 million to 40 million euros, making him the Eagles’ most valuable professional after Adam Wharton.
