La Paz Archery: 13 Gold Medals & National Championship Win

With 13 gold medals, seven silver and eight bronze, La Paz dominated at home in the XXIX National Selective Outdoor Archery Championship that took place from Friday to Sunday.

A total of 47 archers from Tarija, Potosí, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz and the host were part of the competition that had the Compound (with pulleys) and Recurve (without pulleys) divisions.

The La Salle school soccer field hosted the contest for the different categories and distances that were in competition.

The La Paz delegation was the most notable for the 13 gold medals it won.

The metals were obtained by: Camila Paredes (Female Senior Recurve, -70 meters), Franz Terrazas (Men’s Master Recurve, -60 meters), Luis Araujo (Men’s Senior and Youth Compound, -50 meters), Mónica Mollo (Female Senior Compound, -50 meters), Abril Encinas (Female Youth Compound, -50 meters) and Luis Gonzales (Master Compound Male, -50 meters).

In addition to: Óscar Arce (Promotional Composite Children’s Male, -20 meters), Andrés Niño de Guzmán (Promotional Recurvo Peque Masculine, -10 meters), Valentina Rada (Promotional Recurvo Peque Femenino, -10 meters), Ania Caballero (Promotional Recurvo Infantil Femenino, -20 meters), Briana Zaga (Promotional Recurvo Cadete Femenino, -30 meters) and Lizbeth Chinaunaca (Female Recurve Promotional, -40 meters).

The seven silver medals were the work of: Miguel Urquidi (Men’s Master Recurve, -60 meters), Luis Araujo (Men’s Senior Compound, -50 meters), Gisalea Mollinedo (Female Senior Recurve Compound, -50 meters), Matías Calero (Men’s Youth Compound, -50 meters), Derry Carrazana (Men’s Recurve Promotional, -40 meters), Andrea Flores (Children’s Recurve Promotional Women, -20 meters) and Magdalena Tamayo (Female Recurve Promotional, -40 meters).

While the bronze eight were won by: Diego Chacón (Senior Men’s Recurve, -70 meters), Elías Alcazar (Men’s Cadet Recurve, -60 meters), Nadia Rivero (Female Cadet Recurve, -60 meters), Joel Gonzales (Men’s Senior Compound, -50 meters), Abril Encinas (Female Senior Compound, -50 meters), Paolo Grandi (Men’s Youth Compound, -50 meters), -50 meters), Gisela Chavarría (Female Children’s Recurve Promotional, -20 meters) and Matías Flores (Male Cadet Recurve Promotional, -30 meters).

The medal table was completed by Cochabamba (7-3-1) and Santa Cruz (1-4-0).
