Auria Badminton: Gold Division Debut & Double Win

The Auria Bádminton Club debuted this past weekend in the Second Gold Division of the National Club League, and did so with two great results to add the six points that were at stake in this first round of the season. The Lanzarote club achieved victory against Las Torres (4-3) and Hinojeros Granadilla (7-0), in the match held in the town of Ribadeo, in Lugo.

The participation of the Auria Bádminton Club in the Second Gold Division began on Saturday afternoon with the confrontation against Las Torres, a match that was decided on the side of the island team by a tight 4 to 3. Miguel Barbado added a point in the men’s singles, by beating Ángel Rodríguez (11-8, 11-2, 11-10), and in the women’s singles, Sara Vianelli and Margot Barbosa added the two points by beating Claudia Teruel (11-10, 9-11, 11-3, 9-11, 11-4) and Candela Martínez (11-3, 11-7, 11-4), respectively.

The fourth point of this first match was won by the men’s doubles team formed by Martín Barbado and Miguel Barbado, who defeated Alejandro Pérez and Pedro Sánchez (11-4, 11-6, 11-4). In this way, the Auria Bádminton Club began its participation in the Second Gold Division of the National Club League with victory and adding the three points at stake.

On Sunday morning came the second match for the Auria Bádminton Club, with the confrontation against Hinojeros Granadilla and which was resolved with a resounding 7 to 0 in favor of the people from Lanzarote. In the men’s singles, Miguel Barbado beat Ismael Melián (11-6, 11-6, 11-5) and Samuel Tarife beat Sergio Nieto (7-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-4), and in the women’s singles, Margot Barbosa beat Ainara González (11-4, 11-5, 11-0) and Sara Vianelli achieved the victory against Alejandra Reyes (11-8, 11-1, 11-3).

There were also plenty of victories in the doubles category. In the men’s doubles, Martín Barbado and Miguel Barbado defeated Daniel Fernández and Sergio Nieto (11-6, 10-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6), in the women’s doubles Zeneida Ortiz and Laura María Solis defeated Alejandra Reyes and Lucía Socas (11-9, 11-4, 11-9), and in the mixed doubles, Martín Barbado and Margot Barbosa defeated Daniel Fernández and Lucía Socas (11-10, 6-11, 11-8, 11-5).

The second leg of the Second Gold Division of the National Club League will arrive in the month of March, under the organization of the Auria Bádminton Club in Arrecife.

Second Territorial National League

This weekend also marked the debut of Auria “B” and Auria “C” in the Second Territorial National League, participating in the first round that took place on Saturday on the island of Tenerife. Auria “B” was defeated in its three matches against Uni Drop (0-5), Gran “K” Top Spin (2-3) and Víctor Team (2-3). For its part, Auria “C” was also defeated in its three matches against Bádminton La Palma (0-5), Uni Lob (0-5) and Tenzul El Rosario “D” (0-5).
