A Milestone Broadcast Agreement for Spanish Basketball

The 2026/27 campaign marks a watershed moment for visibility across domestic women’s basketball in Spain. The agreement ensures that fans will have access to more live games across national, regional, and OTT channels than at any previous point in the league’s history.

At the center of this expanded schedule is Movistar Plus, which has secured rights to broadcast every single matchup of the 250-plus game regular-season slate. According to Aragon Digital, Movistar will carry one match per round in exclusive windows across its dedicated channels while distributing the remaining fixtures alongside other national operators.

National Free-to-Air and Specialized OTT Coverage

Beyond Movistar Plus, free-to-air television and digital streaming platforms will provide significant complementary access. Teledeporte remains the primary public television outlet for the league, broadcasting the marquee matchup of each round live. In addition to regular-season games, Teledeporte’s schedule will encompass the Supercopa, the Copa de la Reina, and the post-season title playoffs.

Specialized sports OTT platform Siroko TV joins the broadcast roster for the upcoming campaign. Siroko TV is slated to carry seven live matches per round, alongside one delayed broadcast corresponding to the game held exclusively by Movistar Plus until its completion.

Regional Networks Expand Local Team Access

Regional public broadcasters form a crucial pillar of the new multi-platform layout, bringing localized coverage to fans across Spain. Five autonomous television networks have acquired rights to broadcast teams within their respective regions:

• TVG (Galicia): Scheduled to provide weekly free-to-air coverage featuring Galician top-flight sides such as Celta Femxa Zorka, Durán Maquinaria Ensino, and Baxi Ferrol.
• Aragón TV (Aragon): Continues its partnership to broadcast fixtures for Casademont Zaragoza.
• TV3 (Catalonia): Set to feature regional contenders Spar Girona and Cadí La Seu.
• EITB (Basque Country): Covers Basque outfits including Mirai Euskotren, Kutxabank Araski, and Inversus Gernika Bizkaia.
• IB3 (Balearic Islands): Assigned to broadcast matches for AzulMarino Palma.

Federation Perspective on Global Ambitions

FEB President Elisa Aguilar emphasized the significance of the new media landscape during the formal presentation of the broadcast rights. She added that the growth reflects the quality of domestic athletes and positions the competition not only as a continental leader, but with ambitions for broader global recognition.

The heightened visibility arrives as prominent clubs prepare for demanding schedules. Casademont Zaragoza enters the year following a successful 2025/26 campaign under head coach Carlos Cantero—highlighted by a Supercopa title, an Euroliga bronze medal, and a runner-up finish in the domestic league—providing heightened stakes for the club’s televised fixtures.

Schedule and Opening Fixtures

Action for the 2026/27 season gets underway with the Supercopa de la Liga Femenina Endesa scheduled for the final weekend of September. The domestic league campaign commences over the first weekend of October. In the silver-tier LF Challenge, Unicaja Mijas aims for promotion, opening its competitive slate on October 3 against Domusa Teknik ISB at the Polideportivo de Azkoitia.
