Armenia Futsal: Historic Quarter-Final Run | Euro 2024

January 25, Minsk / Corr. BELTA/. The Armenian national team won its second victory and was the first to secure access to the quarterfinals of the European Futsal Championship, BELTA correspondent reports.

In today’s match of the second round of preliminary group B, the debutants of the continental championship won a strong-willed victory over the Czech team with a score of 5:4. In the opening match in Kaunas, the Armenians unexpectedly defeated the Ukrainians (2:1) and now scored 6 points, booking one of the tickets to the playoffs. In the second match of this quartet, the Lithuanians meet the Ukrainian team. In the first round, the Lithuanians drew with the Czechs (3:3).

In Riga, the teams of Georgia and Croatia did not reveal a winner – a 2:2 draw. Later in Group A the French will compete with the Latvian team.

Tomorrow in Ljubljana the Belarusians will play their second match of preliminary group C, whose opponents will be the seven-time European champions the Spaniards. In the first round, the Belarusian team lost to the Belgians (0:4), and the Spanish team confidently beat the Slovenians (4:1). In Quartet D, the second round matches will take place on January 27: Hungary – Portugal, Poland – Italy. At the start, the reigning champions of the Old World, the Portuguese, defeated the Italians (6:2), and the Hungarians beat the Poles (4:2).

After the completion of the group stage, the two best teams from each quartet will advance to the quarterfinal stage. -0-
