Kristian Pihl: New CEO of Badminton Denmark

Kristian Pihl takes over on 31 May 2026 as managing director of Badminton Denmark. The association must therefore have a new chairman.

In April 2025, Badminton Denmark’s then director, Kristian Langbak, resigned. In this connection, Kristian Pihl was appointed as acting director, at the same time as he continued as chairman of Badminton Denmark. Subsequently, the main board decided to postpone the recruitment of a new director, and at the request of the main board, Kristian Pihl has now chosen to say yes to continuing in the role of director. Kristian Pihl will be acting director until 30 May 2026 and will then take over as managing director of Badminton Denmark from 31 May 2026.

“We are very pleased that Kristian Pihl, at the unanimous request of the executive board, has chosen to continue as managing director. We are convinced that he is the right person to further develop the association in the strategically important areas, and at the same time he has the necessary skills to ensure strong management and development of the administration with high employee satisfaction. The overall executive board has been extremely satisfied with his efforts as acting director. At the same time, it is the executive board’s clear assessment that both the administration and Badminton Denmark’s partners has greatly enjoyed the collaboration with Kristian Pihl in the role of director,” says Badminton Denmark’s executive board.

Kristian Pihl states: “I have been very happy with my time on the main board – especially the last three years as chairman have been special, and I am proud and satisfied with the results and the mark I have left on the organization politically. I think that politically we are in a very good place, and I am confident that the main board will now have a new chairman. My time and energy will be best spent as director going forward, and I have therefore chosen to accept the job as director. A decision I would not have made without the great support from the main board, the employees and the partners during the constitutional period. I would also like to thank everyone in the main board for a strong and continuous cooperation, where all nine of us have stood together during my three years as chairman. This has made it possible for us to have the open and honest dialogue we have had in this recruitment process.”

The transition to the role of director means that Kristian Pihl will not stand again as chairman of Badminton Denmark when his term expires at the annual meeting. Badminton Denmark must therefore elect a new chairman at the annual meeting.

“It is an exciting time that we are entering. We look forward with great confidence to the coming period and look forward to seeing who the board of representatives chooses for the position of chairman. And then we look forward to Badminton Denmark continuing to be strengthened organizationally under the leadership of Kristian Pihl as managing director,” says Badminton Denmark’s main board.

The annual meeting will be held on Saturday 30 May 2026 at 11.00 in Middelfart.
