To mark its 125th anniversary, FC Bayern now has a luxurious collector’s item in its range: the coffee table book “FC Bayern Munich 125 Opus”, which, according to the club, “celebrates the illustrious history of our club in an unprecedented form” – available for the hefty price of 12,500 euros, which not everyone likes.
“This unique work is much more than a book,” the Bavarians write on their website. “It is an art object that presents the 125 greatest moments of our club’s history on over 850 pages in impressive quality.”
Bayern added: “From the beginnings in 1900 through the golden 60s and 70s to the historic triumphs of recent times – every page tells of the passion, courage and success of our FC Bayern on the biggest football stages in the world.”
Bavaria: Price for collector’s item causes excitement
Only 125 copies are available worldwide, the German record champion continued. The 32 kilogram chunk, which supporters can order via an external website, is hand-tied in the finest leather, optionally finished with genuine Bavarian lederhosen leather. Bayern’s anniversary jersey, signed by the current squad, is also included in the package.
“Exclusive interviews with legends such as Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Sepp Maier, Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer and many others provide deep insights into the soul of the club,” emphasized Bayern. “But the magical atmosphere of a home game in the Allianz Arena is also captured; a special choreography section reflects Bavarian fan culture in all its glory.”
However, the price of the “extraordinary masterpiece” is causing a great stir online, and the association’s X contribution has been criticized several times. “I think it’s unworthy that it doesn’t cost 125,000 for the 125th anniversary,” commented one user ironically. “Perfect for every Bayern fan who doesn’t have to take out a loan,” writes another.
