On Sunday, December 18th, 2026, we had the opportunity to go to Harburger for the first time Indoor Cup, also known as the Willi Uder Memorial Tournament. In addition to the men’s teams that usually take part, as well as the Ü32-Ü50 TeamsAfter the premiere last year, we were also there as walking footballers. The well-known tournament celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2026. Part of the organizational teamas has been the case for many years, our honorary member Manfred von Soosten as well as the other members Harald Szulik and Jürgen Weßeloh.
After the welcome from the tournament management, including the explanation of the football-specific rules, the sporting part began
The game was played 6-on-6, everyone against everyone, for 11 minutes of playing time. Against our first opponent, the TuS Fleestedt, We were 0:3 behind relatively quickly before we were only able to reduce the score to 1:3. As is usual in indoor handball games, the 7m circle took some getting used to (usually 3m) with the handball goals. This makes it possible to score goals from the back rows if you play skillfully. By the time we noticed, the second game had already been lost 3:5 against Moorburger TSV. In the third game a convincing 4-0 against den Bostel cup SV, only to fall back into behavioral patterns that they thought had been overcome in the fourth game and lose 3-1. As a conciliatory conclusion, a much applauded 3rd:2 against Hamburger SV almost at the last minute. The winning goal scorer was, of all people, a teammate Jörg Schumacher, who is also an ardent HSV fan. Our girls Petra Leitner and Tanja Fromm were also able to get on the top scorer list. The 6 points earned were enough for third place and a trophy. The TuS Fleestedt took first place. Revenge for the defeat we suffered will take place on February 7, 2026, when we will be guests again in the hall Fleestedt are.
In addition to all the sportiness, it was of course primarily about the good cause. Although the men’s tournament on the weekend of January 10th/11th, 2026 had to be canceled due to weather, around 4,000 had already been held by the day before, January 17th, 2026 € brought in from donations, entry fees and entry fees. There was also a donation of €100 from the coach of the FSVR league team, Sven Siebert. Our team was able to contribute €170 to benefit the facilities for people with disabilities at the Elfenwiese.
