The Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL) had a dramatic game, but lost to the Los Angeles Rams in overtime, ending the season.

The Bears lost 17-20 in overtime in the NFC Divisional Round game held at Soldier Field in Chicago on the 18th, failing to advance to the conference championship for the first time since 2010.

Although the game was played in the cold, with temperatures in the single digits Fahrenheit, snow, and strong winds, more than 60,000 fans gathered at Soldier Field to cheer on the Bears.

The Bears faced a crisis early in the game with an interception, and then the Rams scored the first touchdown with an 85-yard drive.

However, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams balanced the game with an accurate touchdown pass to DJ Moore on the second drive, and the two teams finished the first half tied 10-10.

In the second half, both teams fought punts in the wind and cold, but in the fourth quarter, the Rams took a 17-10 lead again with a rushing touchdown, and the Bears missed several good opportunities and the game seemed to be tilting. However, the Bears, who showed ‘miracles in the last two minutes’ throughout the season, once again created a miraculous drama.

In a 4th-and-4 situation with 30 seconds left in the game, Williams retreated more than 20 yards to avoid pressure from the opposing defense and threw a dramatic 51-yard touchdown to tight end Cole Kmet, successfully extending the game.

In overtime, the Bears had an opportunity by blocking the opponent’s first drive, but Williams’ deep pass on the offensive line led to a third interception, which ultimately ended in a field goal for the Rams.

Williams completed 23 of 42 pass attempts on this day, recording 257 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. The Bears defense performed well, recording four sacks, but could not get over the hump in the final moments.

After the game, Bears coach Ben Johnson said, “The players did not lose faith until the end and showed the same fighting spirit they showed throughout the season on this day,” adding, “It is disappointing, but this experience will serve as a great foundation in the process of growing our young team.”

Williams said, “I should have made better choices, but I had a lot to learn from my first playoff experience, and I will lead the team to a higher level through recovery and improvement.”

The Bears achieved meaningful results this season by winning the district championship, advancing to the playoffs, and overcoming the wild card, giving fans hope for the first time in a long time.
