“I think the moment when I won 21-0 was the perfect moment and I wanted to do that.”
“It feels like it will take a very long time. In fact, it might never happen,” said An Se Young as quoted by BWF.
In the current rally point system in badminton, it is very difficult to achieve a 21-0 win. The reason is, a player really cannot make a single mistake because every mistake means a point for the opponent.
This is different from the old ’15 points’ system when a number of 15-0 scores were created. This is because each new player can get points when they hold serve.
An Se Young is indeed transforming into a badminton player who is difficult to beat. In 2025, An Se Young won 11 titles and won the Malaysia Open this year.
One of the keys to An Se Young’s success is that she often re-watches the matches she has played.
“When I go to sleep, I honestly don’t want to think about anything. But I still think about moments from the match, so I watch the match before sleeping, and then keep thinking about those moments,” said An Se Young.
