Bahrain is set to host the 2026 Para Badminton World Championships from 8 to 14 February 2026, under the gracious patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

The championship will be organized by the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, in cooperation with the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation, further reinforcing the Kingdom’s growing presence on the global Paralympic sports stage.

President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, expressed his pride in the prestigious patronage and emphasized that it reflects strong confidence in Bahrain’s ability to host major international sporting events in line with the highest global standards. He noted that Bahrain’s advanced organizational capabilities, modern sports infrastructure, and inclusive facilities tailored to the needs of athletes of determination have played a key role in securing the event.

Shaikh Mohammed also highlighted the success of previous Paralympic championships hosted in Bahrain, which received widespread praise from international federations and participating delegations, further strengthening the Kingdom’s international sporting reputation.

The championship will be held at Isa bin Rashid Sports Hall, with competition halls designated according to player classifications. Hall (B) will be used for warm-up sessions, Hall (C) will host standing players’ matches, and Hall (D) will be dedicated to wheelchair competitions, ensuring a professional and safe environment that meets international technical standards.

Considered one of the most prominent events on the global Paralympic calendar, the 2026 Para Badminton World Championships is expected to attract elite players from around the world, reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a regional and international hub for major sporting events.
