Two pursuits and three podiums including a victory for France less than three weeks before the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games. This Saturday noon in Ruhpolding, Lou Jeanmonnot won the women’s race ahead of Hanna Oeberg and especially her compatriot Camille Bened, author of a 20/20. Three hours later, Eric Perrot narrowly missed victory and finished five seconds behind Norwegian winner Johannes Dale-Skevdal with a 17/20.
This second place is a very good result for the Frenchman who had started very badly. Starting in fifth position, around forty seconds behind leader Sebastian Samuelsson, Eric Perrot missed twice from the first prone shot, before making up for it on the second (5/5).
Fabien Claude fourth
After a faultless shot on the first standing shot, Eric Perrot even thought he could go for victory after the last shot despite a pickaxe but he was finally caught and overtaken on skis by Dale-Skjevdal.
He scored another podium in a pursuit this season, after his victory at Hochfilzen in mid-December. At Grand-Bornand, he finished at the foot of the podium on which Emilien Jacquelin had climbed (2nd).
Fabien Claude, 37th at the start, made a magnificent comeback and took part in the flower ceremony, finishing fourth. Author of four faults, Emilien Jacquelin took eighth place, 14 seconds behind the winner, the rank he had when he set off around 3 p.m.
