Fluminense was beaten 1-0 by Boavista, this Saturday (17/01), in the second round of the Campeonato Carioca, at the Elcyr Resende Stadium, in Bacaxá. With the result, Tricolor maintains the three points and occupies second place in Group A.
The team’s next match will be on Thursday (22/01) against Nova Iguaçu, in the third round of Carioca. The match will be at 9:30 pm, at the Luso Brasileiro Stadium.
FIRST HALF
The game started truncated, with few clear chances. Fluminense bet on plays on the sides to find spaces in the opposing defense and had their first opportunity in the 23rd minute, with Igor Rabello’s header going wide.
Tricolor was again in danger at 32, when Arana crossed low into the area and the defense intercepted it. The team increased its presence in the defensive field and, at 37, Matheus Reis finished from outside the area close to the post. At 45, Matheus Reis took it to the baseline and crossed to Lelê, who finished for the goalkeeper to save.
SECOND HALF
After two minutes, Caran opened the scoring for the opponent. Looking for the result, Fluminense went all out and, at 16, Lelê almost tied the match, but was disarmed before he could finish.
At 20, Fidelis sent in a header, demanding a save from the goalkeeper. Shortly after, at 25, Agner took a free kick in the area and Jemmes headed it against the post. The team continued to press until the last minute, but were unable to equalize.
