Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor faced Gaziantep Basketball, one of its most important rivals in the league, in the semi-finals of the Türkiye Sigorta Men’s Federation Cup.
Büyükşehir, which showed an effective performance from the first moment of the match played at the Basketball Development Center National Teams Hall, started the match well against the Gaziantep team. The yellow-blacks finished the first quarter 21-16 ahead with their effective play. Increasing its tempo even more in the second period, Büyükşehir Belediyespor increased the difference to double digits and went to the locker room with a 41-30 advantage.
Having lost its rhythm in attack in the third quarter, Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor could not prevent its opponent from getting close to the score in this section, but entered the final period ahead with a score of 48-46. The Konya team, which regained control in the last quarter with the effective play of Alp Karahan, Oğulcan Baykan and Chris Coffey, did not give its opponent a chance and won 70-59 on the court.
Konya Büyükşehir Belediyespor, which emerged victorious from this difficult match, which was described as an “early final” by basketball circles, became the rival of Çayırova Belediyesi in the final of the Turkish Insurance Men’s Federation Cup.
The champion in the cup will be determined after the final match to be played at Sinan Erdem Sports Hall on Sunday, January 18.
