The match at the Parc des Princes and the exploit at PSG (0-1) on Monday during the round of 16 of the Coupe de France left their mark on Paris FC. Willem Geubbels and Alimami Gory came off at half-time while Thibault De Smet finished the match with knee pain. A final update will be made this Saturday during the last training session. “Thibault has a little tendinitis, but it’s okay. For Willem and Alimami, things should be fine too,” specifies coach Stéphane Gilli.
On the other hand, the news is not good for Samir Chergui who was injured (hamstring) during the second match with Algeria at the CAN. He is expected to be out for at least a month.
“In November, he had already left for the selection, he was fair, but we left him, we trusted,” says Gilli. Before the second game, he didn’t practice because he was experiencing pain but he still played. He came back injured and we treated him throughout the month of December before the CAN. He joined his selection by being fair. He didn’t play the first game but played in the second game during which he injured his other hamstring. I think it would have been better if he had gone back, but he stayed there. »
“When we play with the health of the players…”
The Parisian coach insists: “He trained the day before the match against Nigeria. With a slight injury, he will be around much longer. I’m a little upset when we play with players’ health. We make them available, but I think the selections must also respect the health of the players and the clubs. When you send one out and he comes back injured for longer when things were predictable, it’s problematic. I’m disappointed for him because he almost missed the CAN and will also miss a lot of matches with us. »
Despite Obed Nkambadio’s XXL performance on Monday against PSG, Kevin Trapp will resume his starting place in goal. “I’m happy with Obed’s match, he had the reaction I expected, he didn’t give up, but for the moment, it’s Kevin who will continue,” says Gilli.
Munesti “will bring us energy, his experience”
Finally, as announced, Marshall Munetsi arrived in Paris on Thursday and signed his contract. The former Reims midfielder, loaned for six months (without purchase option) by Wolverhampton, trained lightly this Friday morning. His presence in Nantes still remains uncertain, knowing that he is late physically.
“It’s a profile that we didn’t have, athletic, with a lot of power, a box to box player, but who is also capable of evolving in several registers in the middle,” says Gilli. He does a lot of kilometers, presses, looks for projections… He will give us a little more impact, a little more size, energy, his experience and leadership. I am very happy with his arrival. »
