On January 10, Ambassador Li Xiang attended the final of the “China Ambassador Cup” football match. Kagou, chairman of the Malian Private University Alliance, and heads of many universities in Mali attended the event.
Ambassador Li said in his speech before the game that 2026 is the “Year of People-to-People Exchanges between China and Africa”, and the series of games in the past month has kicked off this year’s people-to-people and cultural exchange activities between China and Malaysia. It is hoped that the players will transform their sportsmanship of perseverance and pursuit of excellence into the motivation to build the country and make positive contributions to promoting friendly cooperation between China and Malaysia.
A total of 32 teams from universities and other institutions that are members of the Malian Private University Alliance participated in this “China Ambassador Cup” football match.
Ambassador Li and Chairman Kagu kicked off the final together and presented awards to the winning teams. During the halftime break of the game, Ambassador Li was interviewed by Malaysian mainstream media on China-Malaysia cooperation in humanities and sports.
