People’s Daily Online, Nanchang, January 9 (Reporter Shi Yu) On the 9th, the 2026 Jiangxi Urban Basketball League (hereinafter referred to as “Gan BA”) press briefing was held in Nanchang. After the “Hometown Calling Order” was launched for this tournament, many Jiangxi basketball fans working outside responded actively and fought for the honor of their hometown, creating a strong atmosphere of “watching a game and loving a city.”
It is reported that the opening match is scheduled to start at 19:00 on January 11, with Shangrao team facing Fuzhou team at home. The competition site will present a series of special links: laser and projection shows will outline the landmarks of 11 cities in Jiangxi and show the development history of Jiangxi basketball; Jiangxi sports stars Xu Shixiao and Zhang Zhiwu will come to the scene to cheer for their hometown teams; in addition, there will also be exciting sports shows, children’s basketball exercises, robot and fancy basketball performances and other exciting programs. Interactive games such as fun tug-of-war and fixed-point shooting are simultaneously set up on site, combined with online and offline lottery activities to create an immersive viewing experience.
“‘Gan BA’, as the highest-level urban basketball league in Jiangxi, innovatively adopts a game-hosting model of ‘government-led, provincial-regional linkage, and multi-party collaboration’.” Liu Gang, director of the Mass Sports Department of the Jiangxi Provincial Sports Bureau, said that the event covers 11 districts and cities in the province, and the participating teams are mainly local elite players. The “foreign aid from the province” rule is specially set up to enhance the suspense of the game while strengthening regional characteristics and embodying the game-running concept of universal participation and fair competition.
It is reported that the current league schedule will last more than four months, with a total of more than 90 high-level duels. The schedule is designed to cover traditional festivals such as the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival. All games are scheduled to be held on weekend evenings, in line with the broadcast rhythm of “A Tale of Two Cities on Saturday and Intercity Contest on Sunday”, taking into account the convenience and experience of fans watching the game. “Gan BA” breaks through the traditional sports event framework and builds a diversified integration system of “sports + cultural tourism + consumption + performing arts” to create a basketball carnival shared by all. The event also pioneered the “Love Watching” public welfare plan, setting up barrier-free public welfare seats to convey the humanistic care of sports.
