The New York Yankees want to have again Cody Bellinger for the 2026 season. However, the situation does not seem to be as simple as anticipated.
According to Jon Heyman, of MLB Network for the New York Post, although the mules have shown various contractual proposals to the outfielder, there is still a gap to reach an agreement.

Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reported something similar on Wednesday, writing that the Yankees still “didn’t appear close to reaching an agreement on a new contract.”
Given this, the Yankees would be considering Bo Bichette more seriously, although they do not cover the same position, according to Heyman. Meanwhile, Bellinger is moving closer to his former teams, the Dodgers and Cubs, who are also in competition with the Bronx for Bichette.
Likewise, the “bombers” are also behind Kyle Tucker, who could cover the outfield like Bellinger, so if they keep both (Bichette and Tucker), it would be considered a great winter market for the Yankees, after being very quiet throughout December.
