With the start of the new year the baseball was projected towards the start of the 2026 season which for the Good it will be long and demanding. In fact, after last year’s results, the team was included in the serie A Silvera sort of A2 of our local hit and run. The 23 teams in the A2 Silver series have been divided into two groups, one with 12 teams and one (B) with 11 franchises.
The Goths have been included in this last grouping: the debut is set for April 4th. With some new staff. Indeed Gianluca Polipitching coach – or the pitchers’ coach – left Godo after seven years to join Fortitudo Bologna and was replaced by Matteo Galeotti who, however, will also continue as a player on the mound. For the pitcher, this is the first experience as a pitching coach and he will face a new chapter in his career, with the double role of coach-player: “My first decision – he explained – was to continue pitching. Then came the proposal from the club to also cover the role of pitching coach: initially I had some indecision, then I accepted, despite being aware of the difficulty of having to cover two roles. I would like to set up the work on a more personal level, depending on the role that the players will cover pitchers: starter, reliever or closer. Galli, Geminiani, Freddi, Piumatti, Gallo, Moise and myself will be part of the roster, barring any last-minute news.”
“We are a good group – continues Galeotti – and I am sure that the absence of a foreign pitcher will make everyone more competitive and focused on what there is to do, both in training and in the match”. The championship, therefore, will begin on April 4th: as last year, except for group A, two matches will be played over the weekend, either on Saturday or Sunday. Each team in group B will play 40 matches in 22 weekends with two rest periods. At the end of the regular season, the top two in each group will compete in the promotion playoffs to move up to Serie A Gold.
The last team in group B, however, will be relegated to Serie B. Here are the opponents and calendar of the Goths who will debut at the Casadio with Fiorentina on 4 April (return 28 June), Sambonifacese (12 April and 4 July), Pesaro (25 April and 18 July), Ronchi (2 May and 25 July), Rovigo (10 May and 1 August), Verona (16 May and 8 August), Padua (30 May and 29 August), Torre Pedrera (6 June and 6 September), Junior Alpina Trieste (14 June and 12 September), Buttrio (20 June and 19 September).
