Wembanyama is not enough for the Spurs, while the Doncic-LeBron duo drags the Lakers.
Bitter defeat for San Antonio in Memphis, where, despite the French phenomenon’s 30 points in just twenty minutes of play, the Spurs were caught and overtaken by the Grizzlies, who won 106-105.
The Spurs start very strong with Julian Champagnie as the protagonist, but Memphis has a devastating reaction in the third quarter, scoring 36 points and managing to take home the narrow victory.
San Antonio, while remaining in second place in the West Conference, now sees the Lakers, led by LeBron James and Luka Doncic, getting ever closer.
The two Los Angeles champions, in fact, combined for 60 points (30 each) and led the Lakers to a 113-103 victory against New Orleans, bottom of the table with a record of only eight victories and 30 defeats. Despite the defeat, the Pelicans can still count on the great performance of winger Trey Murphy, who scored 42 points.
In the other NBA games, Dallas wins an away victory in Sacramento (100-98), with a decisive triple by Brandon Williams. Miami, however, lost heavily to Minnesota (122-94), with Simone Fontecchio playing less than five minutes, collecting a rebound and a missed triple.
The Washington Wizards, however, continue to fly with five victories in the last seven games, and prevail over Orlando (120-112), thanks above all to the performances of CJ McCollum (27 points) and Alex Sarr (23 points).
Finally, the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Indiana Pacers 120-116, with Darius Garland protagonist with 29 points. For the Pacers comes the 13th consecutive defeat.
