Malaka faces the Andalusian Indoor Archery Championship at its best in terms of level of results and number of participants.
A total of 41 Malaka archers will attend this sporting event that will be held on January 10 and 11 at the Fuentezuelas Municipal Pavilion in Jaén. The divisions of “Recurve Bow”, “Compound Bow”, “Bow and Health” and “Adapted Bow” will compete.
Of the total number of athletes, 26 are men and 17 women. A fact that is very significant since the Malaka club works to incorporate more women into the practice of archery and achieve parity. The number of women is increasing season after season and, in the lower categories, there are already the same number of girls and boys.
Another important fact is that 7 archers under 21 years old They will compete first in their category and then they will compete again in the absolute category. Despite being smaller, the results they are having have allowed them to register in the absolute category and they have a good chance of getting a good position and even getting on the podium.
The club is very proud, especially of the participation of the three athletes from Malagueña Pink Arrows What are the women breast cancer survivors who pull in the division? “Bow and Health” and his athlete Alberto Romero who shoots in the division of “Adapted Arc”
Along with the athletes, there will be 5 technicians who are also in luck as they have recently managed to become level 2 technicians of the Royal Spanish Archery Federation, which gives us a sample of the high level of training that is available at the Málaga Archery School.
The competition is divided into two different championships. The first is the Andalusian Indoor Archery Championship for those under 21 years of age and the “Arch and Health” and “Adapted Arch” divisions that will take place on Saturday morning. On Saturday afternoon and Sunday the second Andalusian Championship will take place, this time for the absolute category. This is where you can see the best archers in Andalusia and where the best scores are achieved.
The results in this championship will be decisive in selecting the archers to form the Andalusian Team that competes in the Spanish Championship.
Malaka trusts that several of its goalkeepers will have a good competition and be selected seeing the good performance they have had in the league and the personal progression of several of them who, currently, are among the three best in Spain in their category.
Along with the good results, other joys have also come to Malaka in the form of institutional support and that is that The Malaga club has received support from the Malaga City Council through a €1,500 subsidy from the Sports Area within the Subsidies under competitive competition for non-profit entities. Money that does not solve, but helps compensate for the lack of adequate facilities for training and the expenses of competing at a national and international level.
