The Golden Shoe will be awarded on January 11 and once again the debate revolves around a few regular names. Marc Degryse thinks that the prize will go to Club Brugge, but he also noticed something special about the case.
The Golden Shoe will be awarded on Sunday, January 11. There are several contenders, but if it depends on Marc Degryse, it will be a prize for Club Brugge. Tzolis is his top favorite, ahead of Vanaken and Jashari – who he believes will win the first round.
Bizarre voting rounds
Degryse has been closely involved in the Golden Shoe Gala in recent years, but this year it will no longer be broadcast on VTM. And so he can speak out about his own favorites a little earlier than expected.
Moreover, he also needed something from his heart to talk to THERE: the voting rounds do not immediately remain logical as far as he is concerned, because Jashari left for Italy this summer and will therefore probably no longer be able to win the Golden Shoe.

“It remains bizarre that the prize is awarded per calendar year, and not per season. Many people have already forgotten Jashari because he left so quickly, just like all the others,” Degryse said very clearly in the weekly magazine.

“Players no longer think about such an individual prize. When I won in 1991, it gave me a new contract with Anderlecht, with better conditions. That is outdated: it has become more interesting to arrange a nice transfer, and they no longer need the Golden Shoe for that.”
