Mbappé Injury: Real Madrid Super Cup Blow

Kylian Mbappé was ruled out of Real Madrid’s squad for the Spanish Super Cup due to the left knee injury suffered by the French forward.

Mbappé could not recover in time. This is Madrid’s main loss for the tournament in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. They will face Atlético de Madrid in the second semi-final on Thursday.

Madrid released coach Xabi Alonso’s squad list for the Super League on Tuesday and it did not include Mbappé, who was also unavailable in the 5-1 home win against Real Betis on Sunday.

According to press reports, Mbappé has been suffering from discomfort in the lateral ligament of his knee for weeks.

The striker has been in great form this season. Earlier this month, Mbappé scored his 59th goal for Madrid in 2025, equaling the club record for most goals in a year, held by Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Paris Saint-Germain player, who joined Madrid in the summer of 2024, has scored 29 times for the Merengues this season, including 18 in the Spanish La Liga to lead the scoring charts.
