Anyone looking for good series, films and shows these days will find what they are looking for with the usual streaming providers. These primarily include large corporations such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+. There, viewers will find real hits such as “Stranger Things”.
However, even if the streamer with the red N, for example, can probably call itself the most successful streamer of the time, a German provider is now catching up. With a new number of subscriptions, this German streamer is setting an in-house record. Is there a big change coming in the streaming world?
Battle of the streamers: RTL+ stands up to Netflix and Co
RTL proudly announces: At the start of the year, the in-house streamer RTL+ broke the barrier of 7 million subscriptions! The provider can therefore call itself the largest national service in the German streaming market. In comparison, Netflix has just over 16.5 million users in Germany, according to Flixpatrol.
Stephan Schmitter, CEO of RTL Deutschland, announced: “This milestone of 7 million paying customers underlines how much power there is in our content, our offering and our teams.” From now on, they want to further expand RTL+ and “continue to compete with global streaming services with all consistency.”
Hit productions such as “The Summer House of the Stars – Battle of the Celebrity Couples” are particularly responsible for the RTL+ success. It also attracts viewers to RTL+ thanks to the “NFL” broadcasts. By the way, in the RTL+ media library you will find a new season of “I’m a Star – Get Me Out of Here!” in January.
