The pattern is well known: the higher end justifies all means. And the left-wing extremist himself determines the purpose, whether he is a climate gluer or an arsonist. The others have to suffer – the accident victim in the blocked ambulance, the working person on the way to work. And now: tens of thousands without power for days in sub-zero temperatures; the armed forces help supply the population.
Should it be a consolation that, according to the confession letter, the perpetrators’ pity for rich villa owners is limited? Or should we be grateful that the weaknesses of infrastructure and energy supply are repeatedly exposed by a group that is already getting on in years? No, you need ignorance, a lot of callousness or secret sympathy not to at least recognize a suspicion of terrorism here.
When the good guys act
But this kind of targeted paralysis of public life apparently continues to fly under the flag of humanism in many minds. The good guys act with a good goal. Now it’s the fight against evil fossil energy.
And doesn’t the fight against climate change even have constitutional status? Furthermore, if the constitutional bodies remain inactive and the voters are too stupid, shouldn’t we take action ourselves? This kind of resistance is approved even within academic elites. But the message behind it is: Good night, democratic constitutional state.
But Putin and, unfortunately, in his own way, Trump also demand enough of it. Hopefully no one would be at a loss for words if it involved acts of foreign sabotage or right-wing extremist terror. It is high time for Germany to become resilient. Against attacks from outside and against threats from within.
Militant resistance is required against all enemies of the free democratic basic order. The good thing about this order and what is worth protecting is that everyone can have an equal and peaceful say.
