Finland U20 Hockey: Upsets USA in Quarterfinals – Diena

The Finnish hockey players defeated the Americans in extra time with the score 4:3 (0:0, 1:2, 2:1, 1:0).

One and a half minutes before the end of regular time, Ryker Lee saved the Americans from losing, but Artu Velile scored the winning goal for the Finns in the third minute of extra time.

Finland’s opponent in the semi-finals will be Sweden, which defeated Latvia 6:3 in the first match of the quarter-finals.

A more convincing victory was won by Canada in the quarter-finals, which defeated Slovakia 7:1 (5:0, 2:1, 0:0).

The Canadians scored all seven goals from the 14th to the 31st minute of the game, with seven different players standing out, and none of the hockey players accumulated more than two points.

In the semi-finals, Canada will meet the Czech Republic, which won 6-2 (0-1, 4-1, 2-0) over Switzerland.

Petr Sikorma and Jiržī Klīma had a goal and two assists for the winners.

The semi-finals will take place on Sunday, and the medal games – on Monday.
