| goal door Rafael Leão in the 50′, 0 – 1 |
AC Milan took the lead in the Italian league on Friday. On the field of low-flying Cagliari, Milan, with Koni De Winter and Alexis Saelemaekers in the starting line-up, did not have much left: a goal from Rafael Leão early in the second half decided the game. On Sunday, city rivals Inter can take over from the Rossoneri again.
With two Belgians, Koni De Winter and Alexis Saelemaekers, in the starting line-up, AC Milan went in search of the leading position in Serie A in Cagliari. The home team started sharply and created a number of opportunities, but then took their foot off the accelerator.
The Rossoneri gradually showed more initiative but were barely able to enforce their will, resulting in a logical goalless halftime score.
Massimiliano Allegri’s troops moved forward resolutely after coffee. Ruben Loftus-Cheek headed an excellent cross from Saelemaekers high over, but Rafael Leao scored moments later on a pass from Adrien Rabiot.
Cagliari no longer showed the same sharpness as before half-time and did not come close to the equalizer, although Milan also failed to kill the match with a second goal.
Milan (38 points) is unbeaten for the sixteenth league match in a row and has temporarily jumped into the lead over city rivals Inter (36 points), which will play on Sunday. Napoli (34 points), Roma (33 points) and Juventus (32 points) also remain in the running for the title.
AC Milan gets a free kick. Sebastiano Luperto (Cagliari) knocked down Niclas Füllkrug.
An extra 4 minutes will be added.
The ball goes over the back line into a corner kick. It is taken by Luka Modric (AC Milan), but his cross is too short and is cleared.
Save from Elia Caprile (Cagliari), who is able to parry the ball while diving.
