A fight broke out after the match played in Mersin in the Turkish Women’s Basketball League last week, in which our representative Bodrum Basketball won. During the events, Eydina Topçu from Bodrum Basket was injured and taken to the hospital.
Turkish Basketball Federation Disciplinary Board announced the penalties regarding the incidents. It was seen that the board was literally punishing Bodrum Basketball. The penalties announced by the Disciplinary Committee regarding the match are as follows:
Mersin Basketball Sports Club basketball player Angel Jackson, regarding the Seçil Kauçuk Mersin Basketball – Bodrum Basketball Halkbank Türkiye Women’s Basketball League match played in Mersin on 26.12.2025;
a. 33/2 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction due to his actual intervention, which reached the level of attack, against Sezen Yavuz, the basketball player number 9 of the opposing team. In accordance with the article, he was banned from 3 competitions and punished with a fine of 17,500.00 TL,
b. 33/2 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction due to his actual intervention, which reached the extent of an attack, against Yağmur Yıldız, the basketball player number 10 of the opposing team. In accordance with the article, he was banned from 3 competitions and punished with a fine of 17,500.00 TL,
c. 33/2 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction due to his actual intervention, which reached the level of an attack, against Eydina Topçu, the number 4 basketball player of the opposing team. In accordance with the article, he was banned from 4 competitions and punished with a fine of 30,000.00 TL,
d. By the sum of the penalties – the execution date of the measure will start from 30.12.2025 – he will be banned from 10 competitions and punished with a fine of 65,000.00 TL, unanimously;
A. Bodrum Basketball Sports Club will be punished with a warning in accordance with Articles 34 and 16 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction, due to the technical and administrative staff members in the team seating row not wearing a uniform suit, contrary to Article 55 of the Contracted Basketball Leagues Management Principles Instruction,
Due to the attack on personal rights of B. Bodrum Basketball Sports Club President Haşim Orhun Gençer, considering that the violation was committed for the first time in the 2025-2026 season, Article 31/2 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction. and 31/5. In accordance with the articles, he will be punished with a fine of 15,000.00 TL, and the written defenses containing sincere confession and remorse will be considered as a reason for discretionary reduction regulated in Article 12 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction, and the penalty will be reduced by ¼ and a fine of 11,250.00 TL will be imposed.
C. Bodrum Basketball Sports Club basketball player Sezen Yavuz was subject to Article 33/2 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction due to her actual intervention, which reached the extent of an attack, against İkra Durmaz, the basketball player number 24 of the opposing team. In accordance with the article, he was banned from 3 competitions and sentenced to a fine of 17.500,00 TL. Written defenses containing sincere confession and regret were considered as discretionary reduction reason set out in the 12th article of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction. To be punished with a fine of 13.125,00 TL,
Due to the actual intervention of D. Bodrum Basketball Sports Club basketball player Eydina Topçu, which is considered as a fighting violation, and considering that the violation was committed for the first time in the 2025-2026 season, Article 33/3 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction. and 33/4. In accordance with the articles, he will be punished with a fine of 12,500.00 TL, and the written defenses containing sincere confession and remorse will be considered as a reason for discretionary reduction regulated in Article 12 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction, and the penalty will be reduced by ¼ and punished with a fine of 9,375.00 TL,

Bodrum Basketball Sports Club basketball player Yağmur Yıldız, which is considered as a fighting violation, and considering that the violation was committed for the first time in the 2025-2026 season, Article 33/3 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction. and 33/4. In accordance with the articles, he will be punished with a fine of 12,500.00 TL, and the written defenses containing sincere confession and remorse will be considered as a reason for discretionary reduction regulated in Article 12 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction, and the penalty will be reduced by ¼ and punished with a fine of 9,375.00 TL,
F. Bodrum Basketball Sports Club basketball player Simge Özkutlu;
a. 33/2 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction due to his actual intervention, which reached the level of attack, against Angel Jackson, the basketball player number 15 of the opposing team. and 33/4. In accordance with the articles, he will be punished with a fine of 17,500.00 TL, and the written defenses containing sincere confession and remorse will be considered as a reason for discretionary reduction regulated in Article 12 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction, and the penalty will be reduced by ¼ and a fine of 13,125.00 TL will be imposed.
b. 33/2 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction due to his actual intervention, which reached the level of attack, against the opposing team’s statistician Ali Kardaş. and 33/4. In accordance with the articles, he will be punished with a fine of 17,500.00 TL, and the written defenses containing sincere confession and remorse will be considered as a reason for discretionary reduction regulated in Article 12 of the Basketball Disciplinary Instruction, and the penalty will be reduced by ¼ and a fine of 13,125.00 TL will be imposed.
c. It was unanimously decided that he would be punished with a fine of 26,250.00 TL by adding up the fines.
