2025 began like so many others for the Independiente fan: with excitement. With that inalienable faith that does not understand balance sheets, contexts or recent antecedents. The year started with renewed expectations, with the hope that, once and for all, the club could right its course and begin to resemble what its history demands. But as the months went by, that initial flame faded. And the end ended up being as painful as it was unfair.
Independiente went through a tough, rough year, full of blows that did not always come from inside the playing field. The fan had to endure external decisions that hurt and conditioned the sporting path. The elimination after the Conmebol ruling, after the incidents at the University of Chile, will be marked as one of the darkest pages of 2025. A desk ruling that was unfair, excessive and that once again exposed the fragility of Argentine clubs in front of international organizations. Independiente was punished ruthlessly, without the same criteria that is usually applied in other similar cases.
Sports disappointments were added to this institutional blow. A team that never managed to consolidate, irregular performances, wasted key games and a permanent feeling of always being halfway there. When it seemed that Red could take off, he stumbled again. When a reaction appeared, a new error appeared. 2025 was a year of missed opportunities.
And in the middle of all that, the fan. Always the fan. That is why 2026 appears as an opportunity. Not as an empty promise, but as an urgent need. Independiente needs to rediscover himself, his identity, his mystique. It needs planning, seriousness, decisions at the level of the shield. He needs to believe again from within so that the fan’s illusion is not betrayed again.
May 2026 be the year of resurgence. The year of being again. To recover pride, respect and competitiveness. That Independiente once again walks with its head held high, as its history dictates.
