Juhuanrou Winter Training: Igniting Passion & Vision

“The national team will not be an ‘iron rice bowl’, let alone a ‘gold-plated team’. First of all, it needs a spirit of daring to compete, dare to fight, and dare to grab.” “Our three events of lifting, wrestling, and Routing are all strength events. The characteristic of strength events is that the bones are hard. Don’t be afraid of being beaten or intimidated. “As long as you are relaxed about yourself, the competition will be tight against you.” “We must strictly abide by all team rules and disciplines, especially the iron laws of anti-doping. This is the political red line, the legal bottom line, and the lifeline of our career.”

On the morning of December 30, the winter training mobilization meeting of the Lifting, Wrestling and Routing Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport was held at the Weightlifting Hall of the General Administration Training Bureau. All members of the national weightlifting team, national wrestling team, and national judo team have gathered together to anchor the goal of winning glory in the Olympics and hone their hard-core competitive strength. This has become the common guiding ideology of the three national teams for this winter training. These “golden sentences” came from the winter training mobilization meeting of the Lifting and Wrestling Center. The head of the center gave a mobilization speech with the theme of “Lighting up the light in the eyes and igniting the fire in the heart.” The more than 360 people and the three national teams attending the meeting clenched their fingers into fists as if they were “one.” They must anchor the goal of winning Olympic glory in this winter training and hone their hard-core competitive strength.

“A new cycle brings new challenges and also means new opportunities. The adjustment to the Olympic level has made me face new choices again.” Olympic weightlifting champion Liu Huanhua has bid farewell to himself who completed the “Grand Slam” and embarked on a new journey. “I know very well that towering trees cannot grow in a greenhouse. It is not in line with the character of an athlete to accept the situation or follow the rules. Only by constantly breaking through, defeating and challenging yourself can you be successful.”

In the eyes of wrestling veteran Meng Lingzhe, this winter training is a good time to “break out”. “Without the hard training in the cold winter, there would be no accumulation in the spring. Without the sweat on the training ground, there would be no glory shining on the highest podium. The coldness and exhaustion of winter training are a test of the body, but also a tempering of the will. Only by settling down and taking root can we become more skilled, more physically fit, and more mentally tough.”

Winning the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics made the members of the Chinese judo team, represented by Ma Zhenzhao, determined to give full play to their winter training. “We will face up to our own shortcomings in technology, physical fitness, psychology, etc., formulate targeted improvement plans, target our efforts, and make precise breakthroughs. We will strengthen communication with foreign teachers and learn advanced concepts. We will actively challenge weak links during training, continue to improve and improve during review and summary, strive to achieve all-round improvement, and meet future challenges with stronger strength.”

During the winter training, the coaches of the three national teams will always stick to the front line of training, fight side by side with the athletes, and provide “all-round support” for technical guidance, psychological guidance, and logistics connection. Liu Weihuang, coach of the national weightlifting team, said: “In this winter training, we must consolidate our strength, find out the deficiencies, combine special polishing techniques, with a sense of urgency and a focus on excellence, focus on winter training and strengthen our skills, and strive to continue to write the glory of Chinese weightlifting in future competitions.”

To study the characteristics and winning rules of the project, the coaches of the three national teams will focus on every technical detail and every tactical link. Sheng Jiang, coach of the national wrestling team, said: “We will firmly grasp the core winning rules of wrestling, ‘quick initiative, bravery, tenacity, and comprehensive coherence.’ Every confrontation must be real, and every review must be thorough, to form our unique technical and tactical style and competitive advantage.”

“Strict management is the only way to love.” The coaches of the three national teams will adhere to the “three obediences and one major” training principle to hone the athletes’ excellent competitive skills. Xu Yuhua, coach of the national judo team, said: “Facing the future, we are well aware of the heavy responsibilities and missions on our shoulders. We will not forget our original aspirations, persevere and work hard for three years, gather strength through unity, and create miracles with joint efforts.”

The National Weightlifting Team has always emphasized scientific training and technological assistance to empower preparations. Li Qingzheng, the scientific research representative, said: “We will continue to take root in the front line of training, from tracking athletes’ physiological functions, analyzing sports techniques, to monitoring training load, and customizing recovery plans. Every link will be scientifically accurate and responsive. We will continue to promote the update and iteration of scientific research methods, use data to speak and guide training, help the coaching team accurately control the training rhythm, and help athletes break through bottlenecks and improve their competitive levels.”

Building an iron army that is good at fighting and has a good work style is the common goal of the three national teams to strengthen their work style. Zeng Pu, the management representative of the national wrestling team, said: “The whole team will invest in winter training with the highest standards, the most stringent requirements, and the most practical style, work hard and practice hard, turn the results of winter training into advantages in preparation for competition, and contribute all its strength to the high-quality development of the national wrestling industry.”

The three national teams will also focus on improving the level of composite team support to protect winter training. Li Mengzhou, the medical representative of the national judo team, said: “We will keep up with the pace of training throughout the entire process, grasp the physical condition of each team member in real time, and accurately carry out various tasks such as pre-match sports protection, in-match emergency response, and post-match fatigue recovery. We will minimize the risk of injuries and help the team members train in the best physical condition, so that every fight will be worry-free.”
