World Record Reaction: Incredible Moment

Among many world record sportsmen registered in 2025 there is also one in blue and white shades: it is the one made by the San Marino of America Kristina Pruccoli in archery, European indoor champion 2024 and vice champion 2025. The 557 points recorded at Northern Region Indoor Championship in Michiganon 7 December, earned her the new record in the bare bow, beating the previous record, set by the Italian Cinzia Noziglia.

An incredible result for her, especially because it came in the first tournament of the season, in which she still had to get into the rhythm of the match. Almost a month after that feat, Pruccoli tells it like this: “I didn’t expect to get a world record in this tournament. In reality, I just expected to shake off the competition nervousness: it had been a while since I shot with the stopwatch active and especially with other people around me, because I train alone most of the time. So, I didn’t expect to do so well“.

The secret of his record performance was consistency: with the match consisting of 20 volleys of three arrows each – for a total of 60 shots – divided into two halves, Pruccoli scored 278 points in the first and 279 in the second. “In the first half of the match I shot well, but really I wasn’t thinking about the world record – he continues -. I was thinking about the US national record, because I equaled it last year, and I was thinking about trying to beat it this year, even though I didn’t think I would do it right away. It was on the seventh volley of the second half that I had a moment where I thought “wait, I could actually tie or break the world record.” As soon as I thought that, though, I placed a 7. So in the last three volleys I became very nervousI was sweating a lot.”

To stay on track and not let the great opportunity slip away, the San Marino native says she needed a lot of mental work in order to not make any more mistakes. “Keep it in the gold”, say the archers, that is, commit to shooting arrows only in the two golden circles, the most central ones, the ones that assign the most points: 9 and 10. Then came the last volley, in which Pruccoli he should have obtained at least 29 points, i.e. one less than the maximum: “There’s a lot of pressure when you already know the result you need, so I did a lot of mental work to stay calm – she says -. Then I shot the three arrows and from a distance I couldn’t understand whether the score was a 29 or a 30, but I already knew for sure that I had broken the recordafter pulling them. So I was very excited and everyone at the tournament was so proud and happy, because a world record in Michigan, in a small club, you don’t see that often. It was really incredible, a really good experience.”
