Fijian international Salesi Rayasi, who arrived at Union Bordeaux-Bègles this summer for one year, has extended his contract until 2028, the reigning European champion club announced on Tuesday.
Since the start of the season, the former Vannes player, 29, has played eleven matches for UBB, mainly on the wing, with six tries scored, performances allowing him to consider extending his lease in Gironde.
The extension had been discussed for several weeks but the president of the UBB, Laurent Marti, was still cautious on December 22, in particular because of the club’s need to stay below the salary cap authorized in the Top 14. “We need Salesi Rayasi. The player wants to stay, the staff wants to keep him, but it’s difficult,” he said on TV7.
