The move from Younes Ebnoutalib (22) from SV Elversberg to Eintracht Frankfurt hasn’t been perfect for 24 hours (all information here), so it’s already becoming clear who will succeed the top striker in the second division. According to “Sky”, the Saarlanders are in advanced negotiations with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim about a permanent transfer of David Mokwa.

The 21-year-old Frenchman, who is contractually bound to Kraichgauer until 2029, is expected to cost up to 2 million euros in the overall package including bonuses. Elversberg has never invested anywhere near such a high fee in a player. Amara Condé (28), Felix Keidel (22) and Tom Zimmerschied (27) are, at 400,000 euros each, the most expensive additions in SVE history. At the same time, the club has never received such a high fee as for Ebnoutalib. The 8 million euros from Frankfurt, which can even increase to 10 million through bonuses, is more than five times as much as the most expensive departure to date brought: Semih Sahin (26) went to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the 2nd league for 1.5 million euros in the summer of 2025, Jannik Rochelt (27) to Hannover 96 a year earlier for the same amount.

Mokwa moved from FC Sochaux-Montbéliard’s U19 team to Hoffenheim in 2019, where his contract is currently valid until 2029. He had previously scored 19 goals in 20 A-youth games for his hometown club. For TSG, he put in a similarly strong performance at youth level with seven goals and three assists in nine games and was quickly promoted to the U23 team, which was then competing in the Regionalliga Südwest. In 2024/25, Mokwa contributed 20 goals and six assists to the championship and promotion to the 3rd league, and also made his debuts in the Bundesliga and Europa League, where he scored two goals. In the current season, when fit, he was mostly part of the third division squad, where he was successful three times in eight games. In the Bundesliga he was only in the squad three times at the start of the season.
