Nozawa Concussion: Antwerp GK Collides with Ementa – Update

Scared in the final phase of the match between Antwerp and Zulte Waregem. Antwerp goalie Taishi Nozawa and Essevee striker Anosike Ementa came into contact with each other very hard. The players quickly realized the seriousness of the collision and immediately ordered the medical staff to come onto the field. The Red Cross also came to care for Nozawa.

The Antwerp players ran to their goalkeeper, who remained lying down after the collision. Nozawa was unconscious for two to three minutes, the players formed a circle around Antwerp’s number 41, while the medical staff did their work. After several minutes of treatment, the goalkeeper stood up Great Old and walked towards the catacombs, supported by his medical staff.

Antwerp players Vincent Janssen and Zeno Van den Bosch briefly commented on their teammate’s situation after the match: “If you see your teammate lying like this, that is never good. But let us take a look inside to see how bad it is before we comment on his situation,” said Janssen. “It was quite a shock. He was unconscious for a moment, but we don’t know how he is now,” Van den Bosch said after the match.

A visibly shaken Antwerp coach Oosting said afterwards that Nozawa could not remember much and was taken to hospital on a stretcher. “He doesn’t know much about it anymore, he has a thick lip, I don’t know the rest very well. You can see that all the players are concerned about each other.”
