Anthem Shutdown: Game Officially Ends Support

Electronic Arts continues to suppress online video games: after having pulled the plug on 23 titles in 2025 alone, including DiRT 3 and GRID Autosport by Codemasters and FIFA 23 (marking the definitive end of the FIFA epic), it is preparing to do the same for 3 other video games. Here’s what they are and when they will go offline.

The first greeting title is none other than Anthema name that has monopolized the headlines, unfortunately not for its merits, after the disastrous launch of 2019. Born amidst great ambitions and excessive expectations, BioWare’s game has never managed to recover, also thanks to the cancellation of the Anthem Next project. As already anticipated last July, the Anthem servers will go offline on January 12, 2026with no plan to enable offline play. In other words, BioWare’s missed blockbuster is destined for definitive death.

The second game destined for retirement is free-to-play The Sims Mobilealready withdrawn from stores in October after seven years of operation. The shutdown is set for on January 20, 2026preceded by a late but certainly welcome gift: on January 6, EA and Maxis will make all the content previously offered for a fee available to still active players, in order to offer them the opportunity to enjoy everything that the game has had the opportunity to offer in recent years, albeit for just two weeks.

The last dead man walking is NBA Live 19originally published in 2018. Scheduled to close on January 30, 2026 will mark the definitive end of EA’s basketball series, which no longer continued after the cancellation of NBA Live 2020.

In summary, these are EA games destined for closure next month:

  • Anthem – January 12, 2026
  • The Sims Mobile – January 20, 2026
  • NBA Live 19 – January 30, 2026

You still have a few weeks to give them a final farewell.
