Orlandina Basket: Press Release Breakdown & History

Pallacanestro Fiorenzuola 1972 learned with amazement of the press release issued today by Orlandina Basket and, in respect of the truth of the facts and the transparency due to members, partners, sponsors and fans, deems it necessary to faithfully retrace the history of the matter, supported by documentary evidence.

November 21, 2025
On that date Orlandina Basket officially communicated to the Fiorenzuola Bees the call-up to the Nigerian national team of their athlete Ugochukwu Andrew Simon, anticipated already on October 7, 2025 but without official confirmation being received for over 40 days, thus leaving the regular dispute of the match in uncertainty.
With the same communication it is specified that the athlete will not be able to take part in the race on 11/30, originally scheduled.
On the same day, the Fiorenzuola Bees took note of the situation and accepted the provisions of the current regulations, as correctly occurred.

November 24, 2025
With a subsequent email, Orlandina Basket, in agreement with Fiorenzuola, proposes Wednesday 07 January 2026 at 8.45 pm as the recovery date, specifying verbatim that:
“the proposal is based on the broader spirit of collaboration between the LNP clubs, with the aim of optimizing travel expenses, as the Fiorenzuola club is already in Sicily to play the 1869 match against SIAZ Piazza Armerina on 4 January.”

November 24, 2025 (same day)
The FIP Competitive Sector confirms the postponement of the match, proposing 10/12 or 23/12 as possible dates for both clubs.

Fiorenzuola accepts with reservation the possibility of postponement to 12/23/2025, specifying via email that:
“as per the initial agreements, our preference remains confirmed on the date of 01.07.2026 if Orlandina Capo d’Orlando, as of 12.18.2025, was not mathematically required to participate in the Coppa Italia LNP 2026 Old Wild West and therefore the reasons that determined the need to play the match within the first round no longer exist.”

December 19, 2025
The Competitive Sector, having acquired the opinion of LNP, communicates the authorization to move the match if and only if this choice will have no implications for the qualification for the LNP Italian Cup 2026 Old Wild West.

In light of these steps, Pallacanestro Fiorenzuola 1972 regretfully notes the subsequent change in position of Orlandina Basket, which is not consistent with what was written and shared in the communications exchanged and with the spirit of collaboration initially invoked by the Sicilian club itself.

Pallacanestro Fiorenzuola 1972 would like to thank Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro which, without any favoritism towards any of the parties, operated with objectivity, clarity and transparency, limiting itself to correctly reconstructing the natural flow of events. Particular thanks go to the LNP General Secretary, Massimo Faraoni, for the availability and clarity demonstrated during the conversation.

Pallacanestro Fiorenzuola 1972 reiterates that it has always acted and intends to continue to act in the broadest spirit of collaboration between LNP companies, in the common interest of the movement. However, having available written evidence of the above, the Company reserves the right to protect its image and that of the Club towards management, partners, sponsors and fans, as well as the overall image of the championship, respecting the role that Fiorenzuola has always held as a model club in terms of help, fairness and cooperation.
