If any player can embody the bad luck that the Memphis Grizzlies have accumulated in the last two years, it is Brandon Clarke. The center, in his second game this season after recovering from his knee injury, was only able to play 3:52 minutes before going down injured again. He suffers a calf muscle injury and will be out for a minimum of three weeks.
Clarke played only 6 games in 23-24 due to an Achilles tear suffered in the previous season and missed the final stretch of 24-25 due to problems with the tendon part of his knee. The same thing that has given him his current headaches. Now, he is injured in the upper calf area, an ailment recently related to Achilles problems and with which doctors are taking special care in the NBA.
At 29 years old, the interior is seeing a promising career as a roller and defensive anchor greatly diminished. Specialized in offensive rebounding and vertical threat, Memphis has struggled to replace him just after betting on him over Steven Adams. In his debut against Minnesota he only played 16 minutes in which he left 6 points and 3 rebounds as a starter.
Memphis, which initially has three players for the center position, only has Jock Landale healthy due to injuries to Zach Edey and Clarke himself.
