Faced with the Moroccan favorite, Senegal undoubtedly poses a main outsider. Winners of the 2021 African Cup of Nations but only eighth finalists two years later, the Lions of Teranga are part of the race list of candidates for the title this year in Morocco.
Led by Sadio Mané, still performing well despite his 33 years and his transfer to Saudi Arabia, on the side of Al-Nassr, the Senegalese were placed in an affordable group, with the Democratic Republic of Congo as the only major opponent. In theory, Botswana and Benin are birds for the cat, but beware of overconfidence in such a competition.
Senegal begins its African Cup of Nations this Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Botswana. It will then continue with the shock of Group D against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday at 4 p.m., before closing the group stage against Benin, Tuesday, December 30, at 8 p.m. All matches will take place at the Ibn Batouta stadium in Tangier.
