Two touchdowns disallowed: Detroit loses in the NFL
The Detroit Lions’ playoff chances in the NFL have fallen sharply. In the loss against Pittsburgh, Amon-Ra St. Brown’s team was deprived of two touchdowns in the final minute.
The Pittsburgh Steelers prevailed in the NFL with 29:24 (10:10) against the Detroit Lions for the German pass receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and have taken a big step towards the playoffs of the US Football League. Detroit’s playoff chances, however, have fallen sharply. Even the Steelers’ 42-year-old star quarterback Aaron Rodgers had to admit that it was a “wild game.”
The Lions were denied two touchdowns in the final minute. First, St. Brown caught a touchdown pass, but the referees ruled that Isaac TeSlaa had fouled a Steelers defender, freeing St. Brown. St. Brown then committed an offensive foul himself when he pushed away a defender, so Jared Goff’s touchdown didn’t count either.
“That was a bad call,” Goff said of St. Brown’s disallowed touchdown. The Lions suffered their seventh defeat in the 15th game of the season and are still in third place in their NFC North division. The Green Bay Packers in front of them have one more win to their name.
After his two touchdowns in the previous game, St. Brown was more inconspicuous this time. The German wide receiver caught four passes and only covered 54 yards. For the Steelers, quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw a touchdown pass. The running game was more promising in the fourth quarter: Jaylen Warren ran twice into the end zone with six and a half minutes to play for a 29:17 lead.
New England is back in the playoffs for the first time since 2021
The New England Patriots are back in the NFL playoffs for the first time since 2021 after a 28:24 (10:10) win over the Baltimore Ravens. At the beginning of the final quarter, the Patriots were still behind 13:24, but then the guests scored two touchdowns: First, quarterback Drake Maye found Kyle Williams in the end zone with a 37-yard pass, before Rhamondre Stevens was successful with a running play two minutes before the end.
The Chicago Bears and the San Francisco 49ers, who did not play on Sunday, are also in the playoffs. The Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles had previously booked their tickets for the finals.
