With victories against Bruges, Genk and La Gantoise and a qualification for the quarter-finals of the Belgian Cup, Antwerp regained color before facing Anderlecht this weekend. Joseph Oosting remains with his feet on the ground and highlights the qualities of the Mauves.
Antwerp has just achieved 9/9 before challenging Anderlecht and is now close to the top 6. “This boost is pleasant and gives us a little boost, but we remain with our feet on the ground. We have all the energy we need to continue this momentum,” declared Joseph Oosting at a press conference, quoted by the Gazette of Antwerp.
After the 2-0 victory in Ghent, Antwerp’s new T1 indicated that there is still room for improvement with the ball. “We try to provide structure. I like to put high or low pressure, nothing in between, even though I know that football is a situational sport. Every situation is different.”
Joseph Oosting warns against De Cat and Anderlecht wingers
For the match against Anderlecht, Joseph Oosting’s attention is mainly focused on recognizing dangerous players. “Anderlecht is a historic club, a team with a lot of dynamism, technical players like De Cat and fast wingers. They are real weapons,” he explains.
He emphasizes that it is not only about individual qualities, but also how these players influence Anderlecht’s game. “It will be a great challenge to compare our style of play to theirs. We have to carefully evaluate who they give the ball to and how they can break through our organization.”

Joseph Oosting sees this match as a test for his team, both tactical and mental. “We want to continue our recent streak of success, but it is clear that Anderlecht are a different type of opponent to Gent. Their speed and technical quality demand maximum concentration from us.”
