VAL D’ISERE – Czech skier Ester Ledecká achieved the sixth time in the second practice for the World Cup downhill in Val d’Isere.
The bronze medalist from this year’s World Championships lost 91 hundredths of a second to the fastest Kira Weidle-Winkelmann, but the German is provisionally disqualified because she did not cross the gate.
In Thursday’s training, Ledecká was fifth, and in the evening she was announced as the winner of the Sportsman of the Year poll in the Czech Republic. Due to the race, she did not participate in the gala evening in Prague. Today, the Italian Sofia Goggiová, forty-one-year-old American Lindsey Vonnová, Austrian Nina Ortliebová and another Italian rival Nicol Delagová finished ahead of her on the slope.
In Val d’Isere, Ledecká will try to improve the results from the beginning of the Olympic season. A week ago, she won in the conventions in St. Moritz 22nd and 17th place. In the Swiss resort, she was also sixteenth in the super giant slalom. Saturday’s downhill in Val d’Isere will start at 10:30, on Sunday the super-G will take place.
