New Year’s Run 2025: Active Year End & Content Writer Shift

We invite everyone to end 2025 actively by participating in the traditional New Year’s run, on December 31, at 11:00 a.m. Start at the basketball hall of the Olympic Center “Ventspils”.

The traditions of the New Year’s run were established more than 50 years ago by coach Andrejs Dogadov. Participants of the run will be able to choose a suitable distance from 1 to 5 kilometers without time control, as well as a distance with time control – 3 km for women and 5 km for men.

Runners who complete the distance with time control will be awarded – the six fastest women in the 3 km and the six fastest men in the 5 km distance. After the finish run, participants will be able to enjoy hot tea and treats.

Participant numbers will be issued only to those participants who will start in distances with time control (3km for women, 5km for men). Issue of numbers on December 31 from 10:00 a.m.

Participation in the race is free.

The organizers of the event thank the athletes and families for participating in sports activities throughout the year and wish them a Merry Christmas and a sporty New Year 2026!

The event is financed by the Plus project of the European Social Fund No. 4.1.2.2/1/24/I/005 “Implementation of measures in the state city of Ventspils for promotion of local public health and disease prevention” budget funds.
