Teplice Stadium Plan: Hockey, Oval & Pool Options

A new multi-purpose stadium could be built in Teplice with a large ice surface, an athletics oval and outdoor fields. It would also be possible to use the arena for organizing cultural events. The costs are estimated at 1.7 billion crowns. Yesterday, Michaela Grosová from Eurishan presented the intention of the private investor to the representatives of Teplice. She did not mention the name of the investor, according to her, it will be published in the event that the city sells off the land in the Nová Ves locality, where the construction of an outdoor swimming pool was previously considered.

According to Grosová, the area under the unused reservoir corresponds to the needs of the entire area. The indoor facilities include a hockey field with an auditorium capacity of 5,000 spectators, two training halls with a capacity of 200 seats, 30 dressing rooms for players and five special dressing rooms for para-hockey players, ten hockey shooting ranges, four gymnasiums, a swimming pool for athletes, fitness, saunas, an area for physiotherapy and massages. There is also a meeting room for 250 people and a children’s club.

The outer area should have an outdoor ice surface with year-round use, which would be used for in-line, hockey and floorball in the summer. The courts will be for volleyball players, tennis players and others, the plan includes an athletic oval with eight lanes and a soccer field. A large parking lot is expected around the area, which is planned to be within reach of public transport.

The project is planned to be implemented in stages. According to Grosová, the construction itself could begin in 2030, and everything would be put into operation in 2035.

Mayor of Teplice Jiří Štábl (ANO) stated that this is an ambitious project. Opposition representative and former mayor Hynek Hanza (ODS) asked about funding. According to Grosová, a subsidy from the National Sports Agency and other organizations such as the Czech Hockey Association is expected, as well as money from some of the banks. Annual operating costs are estimated at 50 to 70 million crowns.
