In January 2026, Badminton Denmark will start a new team on the elite coaching training – a specialized training that is only offered once in each Olympic cycle and is reserved for very few participants.
This time, five coaches have been admitted after an overall, individual assessment:
- Ann Nielsen
- Anton Tømming Larsen
- Joshua Eipe
- Mikkel Mikkelsen
- Sebastian Bugtrup
The overall aim of the elite coaching training is to develop coaches who can work with badminton players with international medal potential and in the long term take on coaching duties in connection with the National Elite Training Center (NETC) in Brøndby.
The training gives participants insight, experience and strong relationships in Badminton Denmark’s elite program as well as the skills required to train and manage players at senior national team level. The content is structured around three main themes:
- To play sports – badminton-specific insight and understanding
- The coach as leader – personal leadership and the coaching role
- Sports science – collaboration with experts and interdisciplinary environments
The course combines teaching, project and communication tasks with internships, 1-1 sparring and participation in both training and international tournaments.
The education extends over two years and consists of ten sessions with both theory and practice. The education is expected to be completed in the 4th quarter of 2027.
The elite coaching training is led by Badminton Denmark’s education and development manager Ulrik Ditlev Jansen. The teaching is carried out by Badminton Denmark’s national coaches, Team Denmark’s specialists and external experts. Furthermore, the course participants will be integrated at NETC, where they will participate in the national team training in collaboration with the national coaches.
With the new team, Badminton Denmark continues the long-term investment in developing coaches who can help ensure Danish badminton’s international competitiveness – both now and in the future.
