Badminton: Christmas Holiday Guide

In the last weeks of the year, the badminton program at BC Mariken will be overhauled. In this overview you can read when you can come and play badminton in the near future.

Thursday December 18th
The first of two parent-child tournaments is scheduled for juniors this Thursday. All youth players who normally train on this evening are allowed to bring a parent, caregiver, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, boyfriend or girlfriend. Together you will participate in a fun tournament. The playing time is the same as for regular training (6:30 PM – 8:00 PM). You can register on site in the hall. Be sure to wear a nice Christmas outfit! Afterwards there will be a small awards ceremony in the canteen.

An open training is scheduled for our senior players this Thursday evening. All players from the groups of Brenda, Jayden and Marco will train together this evening from 8:00 PM to 9:15 PM. Anyone who would like to join is also welcome. Afterwards there is room for free play.

Friday December 19th
The two parent-child tournament is on the program this evening, again from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Now all players who normally train on Friday evenings have been invited. Players who only train on Tuesday evenings can choose whether they participate in the tournament on Thursday or Friday. The setup is the same as the night before.

Our traditional Christmas tournament for seniors will take place later in the evening. All seniors are cordially invited to participate. The tournament starts around 8:20 PM, warm-up play starts at 8:00 PM. It doesn’t matter what level you play at. You can register on the evening itself. A Christmas outfit is also appreciated!

No badminton until January 1
All badminton at BC Mariken will be canceled for most of the Christmas holidays. There will be no games from Tuesday 23 to Thursday 1 January.

Friday January 2
On the last weekday of the Christmas holidays, BC Mariken organizes the annual 2Grip/BC Mariken Youth Team Tournament for juniors who are not yet playing a competition. The tournament is intended for players up to approximately 14 years old. Participation costs 7.50 euros per person, including packed lunch. Do you want to participate? Please send an email to: redactie@bcmariken.nl.

That same Friday, the new calendar year starts for senior players on the badminton court. The first training sessions of 2026 will take place from 8:00 PM to 9:15 PM. Everyone is welcome at these training sessions (just like on Thursday December 18th)! Then there is room for free play. Afterwards we raise a glass to the new year together in the canteen. More information about this will follow soon.

For the P-badminton group, if there are enough registrations, there is the opportunity to play freely on Friday, January 2 at the Radboud Sports Center (3:45 PM to 5:00 PM). There will be no guidance available at this time of play. Both Monday and Friday players are welcome. Players will be informed about this later.

The regular playing program at BC Mariken will resume in the week of Monday, January 5. Check our calendar for all playing times.
