Franco Baresi returns home. After a long absence due to illness – at the beginning of August he underwent surgery to remove a nodule in his lungs – the honorary vice president of Milan will return to San Siro to watch tomorrow’s match (Sunday) at 12.30pm between the Rossoneri and Sassuolo. «Franco was subsequently evaluated by the oncologist specialist with an indication for consolidation therapy based on immunotherapy», AC Milan announced after the operation.
Baresi, 65, had also distanced himself from social media before writing “Viva la vita” on Instagram on November 3, receiving many messages of sympathy, including those from Paolo Maldini and Javier Zanetti. While on November 22nd, he returned to Casa Milan. After the surgery in August, through an official note published by Milan, he wrote: «Dear fans, I want to let you know that it will take me some time to get back into shape. Thanks to Milan and all of you for the support and support. With love, a hug.” The former defender has been honorary president since 2020 and seven years earlier, in 2013, he entered the Italian football Hall of Fame.
