BCL Asia & EASL: Participation Changes & Updates

Ryukyu Golden Kings
FIBA (International Basketball Federation) has announced that the East Asia Super League (EASL) has been designated as a qualifying tournament for the FIBA Basketball Champions League Asia (BCL Asia).

Due to this system change by FIBA, the EASL competition will become a very important tournament that will directly lead to the right to challenge for BCL Asia.
The Ryukyu Golden Kings will do their best in every game in order to win the EASL and compete again on Asia’s highest stage.
Thank you for your continued support.

We would like to inform you that the changes to the BCL Asia participation conditions and the method for determining participating clubs are as follows.

■About changes to BCL Asia participation conditions
Until now, clubs from Japan participating in the BCL Asia were determined to be the “clubs that won the B.LEAGUE in the most recent season,” but in order to give clubs from each country more time to prepare, FIBA has decided to change the method to selecting participating clubs based on the results of the EASL.

[Before change: Until BCL Asia 2025]
The most recent B.LEAGUE winning club will participate.

[After change: From BCL Asia 2026]
The top-ranked clubs in the country will participate from among the clubs that participated in the most recent EASL season.
*If there is a tie, the decision will be made based on goal difference.

■BCL Asia 2026 overall participation slots
・Three countries: Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines: 1 slot for each country
(Top-ranked club in the country among EASL participating clubs)
・West Asia Super League: 2 slots
・BCL Asia East: 2 slots
・CBA (China) Champion: 1 slot
*The availability of host country slots is currently under consideration

With EASL being positioned as a qualifying tournament for BCL Asia, the following three clubs have the potential to qualify in Japan.
・Ryukyu Golden Kings
・Utsunomiya Brex
・Alvark Tokyo
