Anderlecht kept the three points at home after a 2-1 victory against STVV. Afterwards, coach Wouter Vrancken gave an honest analysis of the match and emphasized that his team did not reach the level of recent weeks.
Lack of quality
According to Vrancken, the difference lay mainly in the quality that his team could not show. “I had already said beforehand: if you want to win this match, you have to show that quality. Otherwise you have no chance against the top teams,” said Het Belang van Limburg. He indicated that STVV had indeed played at that level in recent weeks, but that it was lacking against Anderlecht.
The coach pointed out wrong choices and a lack of courage in the opening phase. “We started with some poor individual controls, then you immediately put pressure on yourself and confidence drops, even in possession of the ball.” It ensured that Anderlecht quickly gained the upper hand and STVV did not get into its game.
Penalty and arbitration
STVV took the lead through a penalty, although there was discussion about that. It was striking that it was not Ito, but Goto who took the eleven meter. “Ito was designated, but if he decides on the field to leave the ball to someone else, that is his free choice. As long as the ball goes in, I have no problem with that.”
Vrancken also criticized the number of yellow cards that were handed out. “Although there were no serious violations,” it said. He emphasized that the arbitration was not the main reason for the loss, but that his team simply did not play at a high level.

The Truiense coach decided that his team played with too little courage and therefore could not claim points. “Apart from everything, we did not deserve to win at any time,” he concludes.
